Dear colleague,

May I please ask whether you have any pupal specimen that you think is, or could be, Endochironomus/Synendotendipes lepidus (Meigen) ?   If you have such a pupa or exuviae, could you please let me know whether the abdominal dorsal conjunctive III/IV is armed like the conjunctive IV/V (as the current genus diagnosis for Synendotendipes appears to claim for the pupa of all species included in the genus) ?

At the ZSM here in Munich we have three exuviae, all associated with pharate adults, that were collected in the Oude Waal in The Netherlands, leg. van der Velde and det. Henk Moller Pillot. On two of these specimens, conjunctive III/IV shows only rudiments of such armament, on the conjunctive of the third specimen there is no armament at all.

Thanks and best regards,

Martin Spies
