Biology, ecology, phenology / About the front legs and vibra...
Last post by Wenbin Liu - June 30, 2024, 10:12:05 AM
We have recently conducted popular science education on Chironomidae for many middle school students and the general public, and currently have two related contents:
1. The name of Chironomidae comes from the shaking of its front legs, which can be observed naturally.
2. Chironomidae is currently the insect with the fastest wing-fluttering frequency in the world.
I would like to ask if someone are aware of any related literature or research on the phenomena or mechanisms of these two contents.
Best,
Wenbin

Dear Dr. Milosevic,

I have been asked by Valeria Lencioni to inform the participants of the availability of my keys to chironomid pupal exuviae.  Any possibility of slipping into the program the following: 'Update on the availability of keys to chironomid pupal exuviae by Peter H. Langton' ?  Probably 5 minutes will suffice.

Best wishes,

Peter Langton
