Since I'm not speaking for the publisher I can only say that I got my copy of the third printing for free. However, that doesn't make practical work with the book any easier, as now I have two copies that contain different but about the same number of errors.

Nevertheless, chironomid taxonomists can hardly get around considering the contents of the new manual in their work, so ...

Will the publisher offer owners of previous printings to receive replacement copies either free or at a substantial discount, or at least as a PDF?

Courtesy of the publishing editor, Dr Cederholm, I have received a copy of the third printing of the manual, which is the version being delivered to customers who order now.

Unfortunately, if anyone has been hoping for significant improvements over the first and second printings (for comments on those, see the separate Forum sections), the PDF file attached here will come as an unpleasant surprise.

Essentially, I cannot help but find that the third printing again includes many items that would need to be corrected, and that these flaws again include both, previous errors that have remained uncorrected and reversals of previously correct data to even earlier errors.

Should any of you be frustrated with this situation, then please don't direct that at me - I am just relating a story here and did not invent or cause what it is about.
